Event Timeline
Six community events across Long Island, from readiness-kit service projects to workforce-awareness bridge events.
Uniondale · Turtle Hook Middle School
25th-Anniversary Kickoff Ceremony
9:25–10:25 AM
Immediately following the ceremony, eighth-grade students will be invited to begin the initiative’s hands-on service component, with service and kit activities continuing during the week of September 18.
Bay Shore · Fire Island Ferries — Bay Shore Marina, near Nicky’s on the Bay
Sunset Passage — A Dockside Ceremony
6:00–7:30 PM
Approximately 50 invited guests honor Fire Island Ferries, its crews, and the Voyager, Explorer, and Fireball for their response following September 11, 2001. Current FIF youth employees help assemble and present First-Responder Honor Packs — connecting 25 years of service to marine transportation, local workforce development, and the importance of maintaining qualified talent for both ordinary operations and extraordinary community response.
Suffolk · Longwood High School — My Brother’s Keeper (MBK)
Youth Service & Kit Assembly Begins
FULL DAY
Longwood High School’s My Brother’s Keeper program begins youth service and readiness-kit activities, with community distribution continuing through the week of September 18.
Supporting this hub, Top Gun Cigars (Wading River) hosts a Longwood-area First-Responder Honor Roll registration today, with up to 20 Honor Packs reserved for early participating responders attending the September 18 recognition.

Community Distribution & 25th-Anniversary Recognition
September 18 · during and into the early evening, Longwood football game
Kits assembled the week prior are distributed to the community. Registered First Responders — including those signed up through Top Gun Cigars on September 11 — are recognized during and after the game, closing the loop between the two Longwood-area events.

Suffolk Salute to Manufacturing
9:00 AM–1:00 PM
Workforce, technology, manufacturing, and career exposure for participating youth — connecting the neighbors served in September to the industries that build community resilience.
Garden City · Cradle of Aviation Museum
Nassau Salute to Manufacturing
10:00 AM–2:00 PM
Workforce and career exposure for Nassau youth, including a ceremonial First-Responder Honor Pack handoff that completes the arc from September service to October workforce awareness.

The Kits Are Not the Endpoint They are the beginning of the workforce story.
